As per the latest news The Andhra Pradesh State government has decided to construct temporary capital in Velagapudi Village one of the 29 villages identified for the construction of the capital in Survery No’s 205,206,207,208 & 214.

Government plans to construct six lakh square feet of office space to shift the secretariat and the Assembly from Hyderabad to Amaravati for the ease of governance.

Government is considering pre-fabricated structures for this G plus one structure for these six buildings. Government has invited bids from the experienced companies for this contract and deadline for the completion of the project would be six months.

Soil tests found lands in the village to be suitable for construction of temporary capital and the tenders for the constructions would be called quickly.

Further, the plan for a multi-storied building to house the government offices and even State Assembly has also changed. “Since the temporary capital has to be readied in six months as directed by the Chief Minister, constructing such a massive building with existing infrastructure is not possible. Hence Anndhra Pradesh govt have opted for the G+1 building plan with a plinth area of 6 lakh sq ft,”.

Government will be using this building till the Government complex in seed capital is completed.

The state government has already announced that the state Secretariat would start functioning in the permanent capital region from June this year.

State government employees will have to shift to the permanent capital region accordingly.

Hyderabad is the common capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for 10 years as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

However, the TDP government is keen that the administration starts functioning from its permanent capital region as early as possible.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the capital city, named Amaravati, near here in October last year.
